Interview with the fabulous hairstylist Jasmine

GH:
Hi Jasmine. Welcome to Grammercy Hair, where we interview the most talented stylists in the Grammercy Park area including Chelsea East and the downtown area based on those who rate highly with Yelp. You are by far one of the most highly rated hairdressers.

JASMINE
Thanks for having me here. I'm looking forward to talking about my new modern and classic hair trends for the new season.

GH:
Yes, here at GH (Grammercy Hair) we love your photos. Each style is so unique yet classic. Please tell us a bit about your first model.
JASMINE:

She's a student at FIT and wanted a fashionable and classic look so I chose something short. She has interests which are very European so I gave her a Euro look to match. It is a classic Vidal Sassoon haircut.

GH:
The young lady with the bangs is great.

JASMINE:
Thanks. I created heavy bangs with gentle highlights. To me, that's what the new season's modern and classic trend is all about. Combining classic styles with subtle new nuances. She has straight long hair with color combinations I developed to accent this fact.

GH:

How about the double process blonde. How did you achieve that modern and class trend appearance?

JASMINE:
She is a professional model. When she came to me her hair had issues.
(laughs)
I face the challenges head on which included needing color correction and was limp in texture. So I gave her an all new vibrant cut and make over with a style that more matched her personality. She has a very classic, very Grammercy Park persona, but this did not necessarily come through with her old hair style.

GH:

And the curly haired woman?

JASMINE:
She has naturally curly hair so she needed a cut that worked for her. I've been cutting her hair for over five years. In fact, she first came to me and told me that she had not been able to find anyone who knew what to do with her curly hair. She did not want to straighten it – she has beautiful curls – so my philosophy has always been “love your curls”. When she first came to me over half a decade ago she had dark hair – a brunette. Over the years we've done various color variations, now this look is gorgeous red copper.

GH:
Do you have any hair care tips for our readers that are interested in maintaining looks from your new modern trends?

JASMINE:
Every hair type, like the various hair types and cuts and coloring we've discussed today, require customized hair regiments. That's one of the services I provide to my clients – tailoring both a look and maintenance program that is easy, convenient and perfect for that client.

GH:
Oh, and before we finish. I want to make sure to let everyone know about your new video that features some of the models in this interview.

JASMINE:
Yes, I'm very excited about my new video. We gave your publication GrammercyHair.com a little plug in fact.

GH:
Thanks. Always appreciate the promotion. And the video is a chance for people to see your work as well as get a sense of your style and personality?

JASMINE:

That's right. It's neat to be able to in just a minute or so, get an overview of my work. And if you like what you see, please sign up for my newsletter where every few months or so I premiere a new hair trends video as well as provide you with hair tips and my latest promotions. Plus, if you feel up to it, I'd love it if you left me a testimonial which you can do by clicking on the link in the email you will receive once you've confirmed your email address for my newsletter.

GH:
I'm sure after people see your work – including your existing clients – that you'll get lots of testimonials. In fact, you already have attracted many tributes from your satisfied customers on Yelp which inspired this interview.
